Official Guide: What to include in a Message Check post
Husband Rebuild Team · 6d ago
This is an official post from the Husband Rebuild Team. Message Check works best when we can see the message and the pressure behind it. Give us three things and we can actually help. First, the draft itself, exactly as you would send it. Second, one line on what you are hoping it does, for example 'I want her to know I am not angry.' Third, one line on the feeling driving it right now, for example 'I feel anxious that she is pulling away.' That third line is the important one, because the feeling is usually steering the draft more than the words are. We will reply with the likely cycle the message might feed, the risk in it, and a shorter or softer version if one helps. Leave out the backstory of who was right. We are checking a move, not judging a case. Post the draft, and we will help you decide whether to send, shorten, or wait.

The most useful line you can add is the feeling one, because a message that looks calm can still be carrying panic. When you name 'I feel like she is slipping away,' we can often see that the real move is to wait rather than to word it better. Next action: before you post a draft, write the one feeling underneath it in plain words, even if it feels exposing.
