Most hard conversations fail in the first sentence. They open with an accusation or a demand, and the other person braces instead of listens. The Lab is for designing openings that invite rather than corner. Good openings share your own state and ask with genuine curiosity. "I want to understand something and I don't want to argue about it. Can I tell you what I've been feeling, and then really hear you?" Compare that to "We need to talk," which mostly triggers dread. Post the hard conversation you are trying to have and the opening line you were planning. We will workshop a version that lowers the threat and leaves room for a real answer. The goal is an honest conversation, not a won one.
