Find the Devil: name your cycle without blaming
Husband Rebuild · 6d ago
Couples rarely have a hundred different fights. They have one fight wearing different clothes. We call that repeating loop the devil in the dynamic, because the real problem is usually the pattern itself, not either person inside it. A cycle has a shape: a trigger, a feeling underneath, a protective move, and then the same move back from the other side. For example: she brings up a worry, you feel criticized, you go silent or defensive, she reads silence as not caring, she pushes harder, you withdraw further. Around it goes. Name your loop in your own words and post it here, describing your moves, not her character. Try this format: "When ___ happens, I feel ___, so I tend to ___, and then the pattern usually ___." Reply to one other person with the part of their cycle you recognize in your own.
